About us
The objective of this observatory is to be a space where citizens, professionals and decision makers can find data for the implementation of projects in favour of the accessible and intelligent mobility.
In the Observatory we understand accessible and intelligent mobility as the multidisciplinary study of the movement, dynamics and behaviour of pedestrians and cyclists. As a result of these studies, design recommendations for mobility infrastructures can be delivered as well as social innovation projects for municipalities and transport operators.
The Observatory is part of the from the Fondo de Apoyo a la Formación de Redes Internacionales entre Centros de Investigación, Proyecto REDES190054 “Transport Alliance Base on Laboratory Experiments (TABLE)”, 2019-2021, de ANID, Chile. Currently, it is led by Sebastián Seriani, academic from the Transportation Studies Group of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences of the Universidad de los Andes and Honorary Lecturer of University College London. Other academics from the Universidad de los Andes also support the Observatory in studies and projects, both from the Transportation Studies Group and from the School of Kinesiology and Occupational Therapy. With respect to international collaboration, the REDES190054 Fund includes other academics from different research centres:
- Taku Fujiyama, Mphil, PhD, Associate Professor, Centre for Transport Studies, Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, University College London, United Kingdom.
- Maik Boltes, PhD, Head of Division Pedestrian Dynamics – Empiricism IAS-7: Civil Safety Research, Institute of Advanced Simulation (Forschungszentrum Jülich) Germany.
